Settling in, the second month

Things started to settle in the second month. With the initial tings out of the way a schedule in the weeks could be found. Still some events and other activities did mix up the flow and I also have to remind myself that time flies, heck even with my posts here I can clearly see how fast things progress if you keep busy.

In school we hat one day of contact meetings where different companies where present and actively looking for new employees. This was a very interesting event especially as I have now participated in such events at several universities and also on both sides, as guest and as a exhibitor for my former companies.

In class many new topics where covered and in the beginning I was struggling a little bit with some of the topics covered as the very formal approach on topics was new to me or I have not had that much experience since last time in my bachelors. In the study group I managed to find it became clear that I’m not totally alone with this struggle and learning in a group might help us overcome the issues we have with the material from the lecture.

Other than study I again did some outside activities like more hiking and ESN events. One great event in the evening was a trip to a small brewery in Lucerne. Here we got some introduction about their local beer, how it is made and we where able to try taste some of their products in the end. Was a great evening.

Further I managed to connect to a former classmate who found work in Zurich and we spend the evening roaming around the city.

Another topic that keeps me busy is to look for a place where I can do my final thesis. Here the first application have been made time will tell where I’ll end up writing it. Now with some time passed the two applications, I have made so far, got rejected but other opportunities are available and I just have to apply further.

Over Easter I visited my best friend and his wife at their place, to get there this took me 10 hours riding the train, getting there felt like a roller coaster especially I got the full error treatment by deutsche bahn „tenk juh vor träwwelling wit Deutsche Bahn“. It included everything from running from platform 10 to 2 at Basel to get to a S-Bahn (and with it to my train), closed rail path and redirection 30 minutes of delay and (somehow) getting back on time and then another „Nothalt“ just before Leipzig with more delays.

Initially on the way back I wanted to use a sleepers car from ÖBB but due to rescheduling on their side I did not take this ride and instead used a connection with one night in at home in Stuttgart. All in all it was a great trip even with the train issues. Driving back to Switzerland using the direct train from Stuttgart will spoil you with a really great view on the Reinfall if you manage to sit on the right (left) side of the train. Sadly the reflection in the mirror do ruin the shot.

Back in Switzerland I now have my velo (bicycle) with me, thanks to my parents who visited last weekend. We used the great weather to do some small trips around Lucerne and Zug and had some fondue in the evening. With the bike I now can explore some more areas and get to different destinations quickly.

Here some more pictures that I did not want to have on the front page:
